My name is Chris and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice where I received my Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling. I specialized in trauma and counseling survivors of traumatic experiences. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders and schizophrenia. I have provided counseling for people from all walks of life. I practice with cultural humility meaning I aim to fully understand all the facets of one’s identity and how they interact with the world around them. All clients may have their own stories but they all work towards a similar goal: to lead a happier and healthier life. We work together to get to that point. I trained using the cognitive-behavioral approach to therapy but have incorporated elements of other approaches in order to have a more comprehensive therapeutic style. This style allows me to use a wide array of techniques to better tailor therapy sessions towards an individual client’s needs. Together we will build the skills necessary to navigate life in a fulfilling and healthy way.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a background in Psychology and Sociology. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, families, parents, and successfully coordinating with schools.Together we will learn how to manage the things that seem unmanageable. My approach is client centered meaning everything is done with your consent and care in mind. My foundation is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, meaning we will target your maladaptive thoughts and behaviors by utilizing techniques tailored to your needs.
Together we will learn how to manage our emotion regulation and distress tolerance, while building our interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness skills. We will also work on setting achievable goals. You will accumulate resources to reuse and look at outside of session, so they are incorporated into your everyday life. The skills learned in therapy will become second nature. Some may be coping ‘cheat sheets’ for you to keep, and things like goal trackers may come back the next session for us to review together. I look forward to growing with you!

I am a Mental Health Counselor currently pursuing my MA in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I also have a MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College. My experience includes providing counseling to adults struggling with substance use, working with young adults involved in the criminal justice system, assisting families experiencing homelessness, and providing therapy to families. I am an advocate for LGBTQ rights and social justice issues. Due to the various systems I have worked in, I have a client-centered, multiculturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach while incorporating various therapeutic techniques, such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, and psychodynamic. I understand that parts of our identities cannot exist independently, so intersectionality is at the forefront of my work to help me understand who you truly are. I am committed to providing a safe space where you can be open, vulnerable, and free to be yourself as we work through challenges you may be experiencing as you heal, grow, and discover new parts of you.
